Salt spray
ISO 9227 uses an artificial salt-spray atmosphere to assess corrosion. It does not directly reproduce showering, swimming or daily sweating.
Water exposure
Define the water type, contact time and acceptance criteria. Fresh water and chlorinated pool water should not be treated as identical exposures.
Artificial perspiration
A defined perspiration solution is used to evaluate surface behaviour. Its conditions differ from neutral salt spray; resistance to sweat needs relevant evidence.

What this record does not establish
No bathing, swimming or artificial-perspiration results are provided in the cited Jinming record. This salt spray report alone cannot verify those use claims or establish a number of years of normal wear.
ISO 9227 explicitly cautions against using salt spray methods to predict long-term corrosion resistance.
Intertek's jewelry High-Performance programme lists separate procedures for sweatproof, waterproof and tarnish-resistant claims. These are examples of its programme, not certifications awarded to Jinming.
Before using a waterproof or sweatproof claim
- Identify the SKU, base material, finish and sample or batch.
- Specify the intended exposure: daily splashes, showering, pool water or perspiration.
- Agree duration and acceptable changes in colour, corrosion, surface or coating.
- Keep the test report and before/after observations tied to the submitted sample.
Ask the laboratory to agree a product-specific method and rating rules; do not assume one test protocol fits every design. For coated items, the coating and components also belong in the brief.
