A jewelry factory should not change an approved chain, pendant, clasp, ear pin or stone without first explaining the reason and obtaining the buyer's approval. Jinming normally uses the same component source. If stock is unavailable, a new source is selected against the original parameters, and photographs plus the reason for the substitution are sent to the customer for approval.

Why can a small component change matter?

A clasp or jump ring may look minor but affects operation, strength, appearance and customer experience. A new chain may alter length, drape, color or weight. A new stone source may change size, cut or color. These are specification changes, not invisible purchasing decisions.

What should the factory send before substitution?

  • A clear photograph of the proposed component
  • The reason the original part is unavailable
  • A comparison of the original and proposed parameters
  • Any effect on color, dimensions, function, price or delivery
  • A request for written approval by email or WhatsApp

How should the new version be recorded?

The specification and revision record should identify the accepted component. Jinming retains the old version rather than deleting it, adds a version number and written note, and uses the record for comparison with the current version.

How is the substituted component checked in production?

Production receives the physical sample, drawings, dimensions, material, color, process and packaging requirements. During assembly and final inspection, clasps, ear pins, jump rings and connections receive a firmness check. Before packing, bulk goods are compared with the approved sample and current records.

What if the buyer does not approve?

The unapproved substitute should not be used for that order. The factory and buyer then decide whether to wait for the original component, select another approved alternative, alter delivery timing or change the order scope.

Frequently asked questions

Does Jinming always use the same component supplier?

Normally yes. A new source is considered when the original component is unavailable and must be matched to the original parameters.

Is a photo enough to approve a substitution?

A photo should be accompanied by the reason and relevant parameter comparison, followed by clear written buyer approval.

How is approval recorded?

Jinming accepts written confirmation through email or WhatsApp.

Are old specifications deleted after a change?

No. Old versions are kept with version numbers and written notes for comparison.
